Understanding Children’s Online Privacy Protection

Memento Yearbook takes children's privacy very seriously. We've added specific features to give your school the means to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). While this legislation applies to schools in the United States, schools designing yearbooks in other countries may also benefit from these features, to protect your students and reassure parents of your commitment to their online safety.

Memento Yearbook offers two mechanisms to help enforce COPPA rules.

1. When the primary account holder accesses a Memento yearbook project for the first time, they may choose to activate COPPA features.
   
2. When you create a team member with COPPA activated on your book, you must certify that the team member is also following COPPA rules.
    

The Parental Consent COPPA form (USA) must be signed by the parent/guardian of any child under the age of 13 who will have their own team member account in Memento Yearbook. Forms should be kept by your yearbook coordinator or your school's administration.
